Boiler Installation & Servicing

The total cost depends on the type of boiler, the brand, and the complexity of the installation. As a rough guide, a straightforward combi boiler swap — same location, same type — typically falls in the range of €2,950–€3,200 fully installed. A system boiler installation with a new cylinder is generally €2,500–€3,500.

We give fixed, itemised quotes before any work begins — so there are no surprises. Call us or fill in the quick form on our Boilers page and we'll get you a number quickly.

A standard system boiler swap (replacing like for like) usually takes one day — most jobs are done by early afternoon. More complex installations involving a new cylinder, pipework changes, or a flue relocation may take a day and a half to two days. We'll give you a realistic time estimate as part of your quote.

We install Ideal Boilers as our primary range — they're manufactured in the UK, have a strong track record in the Irish market, and carry a warranty of up to 10 years. The Ideal Vogue Max and Logic Max ranges are particularly popular for their efficiency ratings and reliability.

We're also able to source and install other leading brands such as Viessmann, Worcester Bosch, and Baxi. If you have a preference, just let us know.

Ideal Boilers come with a manufacturer's warranty of 7 years depending on the model (the Vogue Max carries a full 10-year warranty when installed by an approved installer). Our labour is guaranteed separately — we stand over our workmanship and will return to fix any issue with the installation at no charge.

Yes — an annual gas boiler service is strongly recommended and, in most cases, required to keep the manufacturer's warranty valid. A service typically takes about an hour, involves a full inspection of all components, a flue gas analysis, and a safety check. It also keeps your boiler running at peak efficiency, which reduces your gas bills. We carry out boiler servicing across Dublin — call us to book.

Yes. We offer emergency callouts across Dublin and surrounding areas. If your heating or hot water has stopped working, call us directly on 087 189 7124 and we'll do our best to get to you the same day. We carry common spare parts on the van to get most faults resolved in a single visit.

It depends on your home size and hot water demand:

  • Combi boiler — best for apartments and smaller homes with one bathroom. Provides heating and instant hot water from one compact unit.
  • System boiler — better suited to larger homes with two or more bathrooms, as hot water is stored in a cylinder for high-demand simultaneous use.
  • Heat-only (regular) boiler — the right choice when upgrading within an older traditional heating system that already has a cylinder and cold-water tank in the loft.

We'll assess your home and advise the right type as part of our quote process — there's never any pressure to choose something you don't need.

Heat Pumps

Heat pumps work most efficiently in well-insulated homes. Before installation, your home will need a BER (Building Energy Rating) assessment — a minimum BER of B3 is currently required to qualify for SEAI heat pump grants. Key factors include wall insulation, attic insulation, window quality, and your existing heating distribution system (radiator sizes or underfloor heating).

If your home doesn't meet the threshold yet, SEAI also offers grants for insulation upgrades — meaning you can get the fabric work done first and install a heat pump afterwards. We can walk you through the full retrofit pathway.

A typical air-to-water heat pump installation in an Irish home costs between €12,000 and €18,000 before grants. The SEAI Heat Pump Grant currently covers €6,500 of this cost, bringing the net investment down significantly. The final price depends on the size of the unit required, whether a new hot water cylinder is needed, and any radiator upgrades.

We provide full itemised quotes and handle the SEAI grant application on your behalf — visit our Heat Pumps page for more detail.

In most cases, yes — but it depends on current energy prices and your home's insulation level. A heat pump produces around 3–4 units of heat for every 1 unit of electricity it consumes (this is called the Coefficient of Performance, or COP). In a well-insulated home, this typically means lower running costs than gas, oil, or electric storage heaters — and significantly lower carbon emissions.

The savings are most pronounced in homes that are moving away from oil heating. For gas-heated homes, the difference is smaller today, though it's expected to widen as gas prices rise and the carbon tax increases.

A standard air-to-water heat pump installation typically takes 2–3 days. This includes fitting the external unit, connecting the indoor components (hot water cylinder, controls), and commissioning the system. Any radiator upgrades or underfloor heating work would add time and is scoped separately.

Not necessarily. Heat pumps work best at lower flow temperatures (35–45°C) compared to gas boilers (60–80°C). In some homes, existing radiators are large enough to provide sufficient heat at lower temperatures. In others, radiator upgrades (upsizing) are needed to ensure even, comfortable heating.

Underfloor heating is ideal for heat pumps but isn't required — and retrofitting underfloor heating throughout an occupied home is expensive. A good installer (like us) will run a heat loss calculation room-by-room to identify exactly what changes, if any, your radiators need.

SEAI currently offers a €6,500 grant towards the cost of a heat pump installation through the Individual Energy Upgrade Grant scheme. To qualify, your home must have been built and occupied before 2011, and must achieve a minimum BER of B3 following works.

Additional grants are available for related upgrades — insulation, windows, and a heat pump-compatible hot water cylinder. We handle all grant paperwork and applications on your behalf. See our SEAI Grants page for the full picture.

About EcoHeat

We cover Dublin city and all Dublin suburbs — including North Dublin, South Dublin, West Dublin, and the wider commuter belt (Kildare, Meath, Wicklow). If you're outside these areas, give us a call and we'll let you know if we can help.

For boiler breakdowns and fault diagnostics, we charge a standard callout fee which covers travel and the first part of the visit. This is always communicated upfront — we won't show up and surprise you with unexpected costs. For new installation quotes, the site visit and assessment is free of charge.

Yes. All our gas work is carried out by Registered Gas Installers (RGI) as required by law in Ireland. It is illegal for anyone who is not RGI-registered to work on gas appliances and pipework — always check this before hiring any tradesperson for gas work. We're happy to provide our registration details on request.

We accept bank transfer and cash. For larger installations, we typically take a deposit on confirmation of booking and the balance on completion. We don't currently accept credit card payments on-site, though this may change — ask us when booking if this is a concern.

The quickest way is to call us on 087 189 7124 — we can often give a ballpark figure over the phone for straightforward jobs. For anything more complex (heat pump installations, full system upgrades), we'll arrange a free site visit to properly assess your home before providing a written quote. You can also use the enquiry forms on any of our service pages.

Yes. On completion of any gas appliance installation, we issue a Completion Certificate as required under Irish Gas Regulations. For heat pump installations under the SEAI grant scheme, we also provide all the documentation required to complete the grant claim. All certificates are yours to keep — they're important for insurance and for when you sell your home.
